Welcome to Our School
Thank you for visiting our website, and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our School. Ickford Combined School is a friendly and caring village school set in the heart of the West Buckinghamshire countryside in the picturesque village of Ickford. Children at the school come from a wide area including: Ickford, Shabbington, Worminghall, Tiddington, Oakley and from places further afield such as: Thame, Princes Risborough and Ludgershall.
At Ickford, we value each child as having individual abilities, gifts and needs and encourage all of our pupils to reach their full potential academically, personally and socially. Our pupils are well behaved, polite and care for each other and their environment and our school is full of happy pupils inspired by the challenges we provide for them.
The teachers at Ickford are highly qualified and conscientious and work hard to ensure that our curriculum is broad, stimulating and engaging for all of our pupils. We have excellent support staff and superb facilities allowing us to provide an abundant range of extra-curricular activities including, art, craft, football, netball, cricket, rugby, hockey, running, ballet and cheerleading plus several more.
We have a very active Parent Teacher Association and they meet regularly in the school to arrange events throughout the school year. Their efforts and activities raise several hundreds of pounds each year that go towards making our school environment a special place.
At Ickford Combined, we have very high expectations of each other and the children. Our uniform is important to us and we expect it to be worn properly and hopefully with pride. Our children embody our school values and good manners and consideration for others are the norm throughout the school.
Although we place a great emphasis on standards of Numeracy and Literacy, we are also determined to make ours a rich and diverse curriculum. For example, our children are inspired by Science and we ensure that they are engaged and learn through investigation and experimentation. Every child, from the very youngest, learns to speak French as part of the normal curriculum and we endeavour to ensure that, by the time they leave us, every child is able to read music and to play at least two instruments with every child learning the recorder and moving on to the violin.
Investment in Information and Technology has enabled our children to use up to date equipment to make films, radio broadcasts and podcasts and to use the internet as a valuable learning tool. Our scheme of work has, amongst other things, enabled the children to experience using CAD software, writing programming language and designing their own video games.
We are continuing to maintain high standards and constantly working to evolve and improve so that we can fulfill our mission of inspiring learning and motivating acheivement. It is impossible to capture the complete picture in this space so I encourage you to look at the whole website and, if possible, to come and have a look around.
If you would like further information about any aspect of our school or you would like to arrange to visit us, please contact the school office at the address, telephone number or email as shown in our contact details.
